I was so excited when I was scrolling Amazon today and seen a new release from Lili, bought it, then realized it was Gun Shy under a different name. No where did it says it was the same book. I even check her pages to see. This was introduced as a NEW book... Not cool. It is a great book. Dark, twisted and everything I love, but I don't like how this came about...feels wrong. I mean there was nothing at all changed about the book from Gun Shy to this one! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2021 )

I feel like I have fought a battle and won part of it and lost the other. This book is absolutely amazing. I went into this book blind. I just knew it was by Lil St. Germain and that I had to read it. I really enjoy knowing nothing about a book sometimes and this is one that I am glad I was clueless about. There is no way you will read this book and know at times what is going on, who is a good guy and who is a bad one. I swear when I thought I had something figured out, bam I was so wrong and had to start guessing again. I am so not going to talk about the story at all and I am sorry to be that way, but I do not want to give away one single thing about this book. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2021 )

It’s well-paced and even poetic in its staccato phrasing throughout. This one will stay with you days after you’ve finished—and some images you may wish to unsee. I didn’t love Cassie, just felt okay about her, I didn’t even feel sorry for her, I didn’t “feel” the wrongdoings or violence. It didn’t get me in my gut. I think because of the way it’s written, more of an explanation after it happens or like someone is describing it happening to someone else. This story grabs you tightly from the beginning, then reels you in, bit by bit, pulling you deeper and deeper until you're completely submerged, lost to its dark and murky depths. It's heartbreaking, breathtaking and brutal, and so darkly fascinating I couldn't tear myself away from the pages. Never mind edge of your seat, I could barely sit down the anticipation was so great and I loved every part of it. Ms. St. Germain's talent is exceptional. The plot line is extraordinary. There are so many layers, each one with its own twists and turns you won't see coming. Who knew a single act could set in motion a chain of events that would affect so many lives.
